We had the cows, the furniture, Naperville had the giraffes and didn't someone have food? Now we have giant bobbleheads Chicago gives the nod to bobbleheads Tribune staff reports April 28, 2003, 5:09 PM CDT This summer the city of big shoulders will become the city of big heads. Dozens of them, in fact. Life-sized bobblehead dolls will line the city's streets in an effort to promote Major League Baseball's All-Star game at U.S. Cellular Field, officials said today. The public art display will include 35 six-foot tall dolls representing each Major League team, officials said. "It's fun to take a popular baseball giveaway item, make it life-sized and show it off around the city," said Rob Gallas, White Sox senior vice president of marketing and broadcasting. "I think our residents and our millions of summer visitors are going to enjoy this display," said Mayor Richard M. Daley. The life-sized bobblehead dolls will be auctioned for charity after the All-Star game festivities scheduled for July 11-15 at U.S. Cellular Field.
